Black History: Feature of the Week
Monday January 30, 2006
February is Black History Month! Many teachers will pay tribute to this special chapter in American history with homework assignments about people and events. There are so many rich and beautiful stories in African-American history, so I'll provide some suggested reading with a new subject every week, here on the Homework Tips site. This week we'll take a look at Susie King Taylor, a young woman who traveled with Union soldiers as a nurse, teacher and spy. Through her fascinating memoirs, she has provided a unique and fascinating glimpse into the American Civil War.
