College Level Reading

Are You Ready?

According to a recent report from CNN, many high school students are not getting enough practice with reading difficult passages, and this is one factor that hinders their readiness for college. In a survey conducted by ACT, just 51 percent of students demonstrated the ability to read at a freshman level. Unfortunately, many students don’t realize that they should take on extra reading assignments to prepare for college, beyond their normal homework assignments. My advice? Take the time to read some old classics. They will expose you to the complex composition structures and advanced vocabulary words you will face in college.
