Is your brain ready for some summer exercise? How about a virtual debate? The high school prom is a time-honored tradition in America and the one event that high school students look forward to more than any other (not counting graduation). In recent years, however, the privilege of attending the prom has been used as a tool for school officials. Students have been banned for everything from smoking to protesting.

  • In Cape Cod, one student's boyfriend was banned from the prom after the school conducted a background check on him. He was banned for having a prior conviction for possession of pot.
  • A Maryland student was banned because she was quoted as saying she planned to drink after the prom.
  • An Indiana male was banned for wearing a dress.
  • You agree with that one? A Minnesota male was banned for wearing a kilt.

It is true, that proms are sponsored by high schools, but do you think schools are going overboard or not when it comes to banning students ? Take the forum poll, then leave a comment. Let us know what you think!
