Using a Day Planner
Does any of this sound familiar?
- You get to class and realize you've left your homework at home.
- You nestle in your bed and realize a big assignment is due tomorrow--and yours isn't finished.
- You have a date tonight and you realize you won't have time to study for the math test you'll face tomorrow morning.
If you've ever done any of these things, you know how important it is to get yourself organized! You can reduce a lot of anxiety in your life by learning to use a day planner the right way.
If you use it properly, your organizer can improve your scores by an entire letter grade. Never be surprised by a due date again!

When I joined the police academy in 1989, the study skills that we were taught were outstanding.
We were taught to look at something that we needed to learn using the “W3R” Principle.
1. Write down what we needed to learn, even if it was already written.
2. Read what we wrote.
3. Recite what we read.
4. That method had what seemed to be a magical way of helping us to Remember what we Recited. And it works!

My problem was that my “to dos” were getting lost in my list(s). When I switched to my current day planner, I was able to stay organized better.
I think the visual layout with the bubble maps helps me remember what I need to do.
