Science Homework Really Pays
It seems that Mary Masterman has been doing some pretty serious science homework. The seventeen year-old senior from Oklahoma City has recently received a scholarship worth $100,000 in the annual Intel Science Talent Search.
Miss Masterman competed with more than 1,700 high school seniors across the nation for the grand prize, but her success should be no surprise. She invented a new, inexpensive spectrograph that can identify the fingerprints of different molecules.
You can read more about this great achievement at the CNN Education site.
Congratulations to Mary Masterman! She is a great role model for high school students everywhere.
