Cramming for a Test

Nobody’s perfect. Sometimes we goof around playing video games and lose track of time, sometimes we break bones and have to go to the emergency room, and sometimes Aunt Martha comes to visit—and Aunt Martha talks a lot.

Lots of things can disrupt our schedules and interrupt our study times.

While cramming isn’t a good idea as a normal practice, there are times when cramming for a test is our only option. Next time you find yourself in a pinch and you need to cram for an exam, you may want to try the “chunking” method.

Chunking is a concept that first emerged in the 1950s when Harvard psychologist George A. Miller published his study on short term memory. It was called "The Magical Number Seven, Plus or Minus Two."
