Teamwork Increases Learning

A recent study that examined the learning patterns of college students suggests that students learn better when participating in team projects.

This study took place over a two-year period at The Pennsylvania State University, where students from one class participated in team projects in a number of activities. Professors discovered that cooperative activities fostered a deeper understanding of material and led to an increased ability to apply new knowledge to real-life situations.

One reason that teamwork may increase learning is that students take turns teaching and sharing their knowledge with one another. Information is reinforced through discussion and role playing.
