It's always a good idea to use visual aids when speaking to an audience. Visual aids enrich the learning experience for the audience, they break up the monotony, and they give the presenter something to focus on when speaking.
But it's important to make sure your visual aids don't do more harm than good, and if they cause extra stress for you as a speaker, they will be doing a lot of harm!
Slides shows can cause stress if you don't practice and prepare a lot. For example, it's very common for an audience member to ask the presenter to back up a few slides in the middle of a presentation. If you don't know how to do this, you'll have to figure it out in mid-presentation, in front of people. Talk about stress!
I've put together a list of things to consider before you attempt to use a slide show in your presentation. Slides are great, but a little risky to deliver without lots of preparation.
