Some mistakes stand out to the reader and really make you look dumb or uneducated, even if the goof is merely the result of a typo. Confusing your and you're is one of those embarrassing mistakes!
You're is always used in place of "you are." It's easy to insert "your" accidentally when typing quickly, but this can be a costly mistake. A teacher or potential employer will spot the mistake right away!
Tip: As you read over any draft of your writing, stop on any word that has an apostrophe and do a mental check. Is it used correctly?
If you're writing a paper, resume, or important email, you may want to do a search for the word "your" to see if you need to replace it with "you're."
