Icebreaker - Wanted Poster

By Grace Fleming, About.com

Study Group Size:

Best for small group

Materials Needed:

small poster boards
colored pens and pencils
colored markers
scissors
various art supplies

Time:

30 – 60 minutes

Icebreaker Rules:

Each student will design a wanted poster for himself/herself. To create the poster, students should make posters that include:

  • a funny or serious visual depiction
  • a list of characteristics
  • habits—serious or silly
  • a place where student is likely to be spotted

This activity is great for a group that will need to use creativity as a group to design or construct something and to share the creative responsibilities.

Each group member will work individually during the first meeting to make the "Wanted" poster. As you work as individuals, you will learn how to share materials and how to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of other group members.

After you’ve all finished making your posters, it’s time to share your thoughts and your designs with your group. Talk about the characteristics you listed or the tools you used to make your poster. By the end of this first day you’ll have a strong, united group.
